My Library: Vakhtang Ananyan – Stories
“My Library” series offers a collection of an Armenian prose writer, journalist, renowned activist of culture of Soviet Armenia Vakhtang Ananyan’s Stories.
Ananyan’s first composition “Cholakh Taqon” was published in “Pioneer” magazine in 1927. His first short novel (“Inside the fire circle”) was published in 1930. He was the founder of adventurous genre in Armenian literature. He wrote novels such as “At the bank of Sevan” and “Prisoners of Hovazadzor”.
Ananyan’s collection of stories named “Hunt” was published in 1934, which was entirely devoted to the nature and owing to such compositions the readers recognized him as an author who illustrated home nature with interesting and beautiful pictures.
Ananyan’s six volumes of hunters’ stories were published in 1947-1966. Vakhtang Ananyan’s “Hunters’ stories” collection was also devoted to home nature, but here he expressed illustration of nature verses human being union.
“On the bank of Sevan” and “Prisoners of Hovazadzor” (1956) short novels were awarded in best children’s book nomination in All Union state awards. “Secret of mountainous lake” and “Prisoners of Hovazadzor” (“Armenfilm”, 1954, 1957) movies were filmed whose scenarios were based on the motives of “On the bank of Sevan” and “Prisoners of Hovazadzor” short novels.
Each book from “My library” series represents one of classical Armenian writers or poets’ best works. The series is intended for schoolchildren, students, adult readers and generally all those who are interested in Armenian literature.
