About Derenik Demirchyan
Derenik Demirchyan (1877–1956) was an Armenian novelist, poet, playwright, and translator born in Akhalkalaki. He studied at Armenian schools in the Caucasus and later at the University of Geneva.
His broad body of work includes drama, short fiction, criticism, and historical novels. He is especially remembered for Vardanank, centered on the fifth-century Armenian uprising, and for the enduring comic play Brave Nazar.
