About Hovik Afyan

Born in Abovyan in 1983, Hovik Afyan has worked as a journalist, editor, screenwriter, and publisher alongside his literary career. His stories have appeared widely in Armenia, and his books have earned attention at home and abroad.

Afyan’s novel Red explores the intertwined forces of war and love and was shortlisted for the European Union Prize for Literature. Across novels and short fiction, he writes about ordinary people navigating violence, memory, family, and the instinct to endure.
