Peter Handke (born 1942) is an Austrian novelist, playwright, essayist, poet, and screenwriter known for formally inventive explorations of language, perception, memory, and place. He received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2019.

His works include The Goalie’s Anxiety at the Penalty Kick, A Sorrow Beyond Dreams, The Left-Handed Woman, and Short Letter, Long Farewell.
