Yervand Otyan

Born in Constantinople, Yervand Otyan became one of the most prolific Western Armenian journalists and satirists of his generation. His comic creation Comrade Panjuni remains a landmark of Armenian political satire.

Otyan was deported during the Armenian Genocide and survived years of forced movement and danger. His memoir Accursed Years is an important eyewitness account, while his fiction and journalism preserve a vivid, unsentimental picture of Armenian public life.
