Elif Shafak (born 1971) is a Turkish-British novelist and essayist whose work explores identity, memory, migration, gender, and the meeting of cultures. She writes fiction in Turkish and English.
Her novels include The Bastard of Istanbul, The Forty Rules of Love, 10 Minutes 38 Seconds in This Strange World, and The Island of Missing Trees.
