David of Sassoun. Armenian Folk Epic
The heroic novel "David of Sassoun" ("Sasuntsi David" or "Daredevils of Sassoun") is the epic-heroic story of four generations of the Sasna ducal dynasty and, accordingly, consists of four main parts or four novel branches. Each of the branches is the story of one royal generation, from birth to death. Branches are related to each other on the principle of father and son succession. Although each branch is an independent and complete novel story about the given generation, but the connection of these branches is done not only externally, just by the sequence of generations, but also with the internal logic of the novel and certain artistic reasons.
