Eznik of Kolb – Refutation of Sects
Eznik of Kolb (Yeznik Koghbatsi) – Refutation of Sects Identity – This work by the 5th-century Armenian theologian and philosopher Eznik of Kolb is primarily dedicated to refuting Persian Zurvanism. However, with the skill of a clever debater, the author also refutes the proponents of Greek polytheism, Stoic pantheism, and Epicurean atheism, criticizes Plato's teachings, and rejects superstition, fatalism, astrology, and all pagan beliefs. On the other hand, it is noteworthy that in this work, contemporary readers can simultaneously get acquainted with many details of the aforementioned doctrines and beliefs, comparing them with Christian perceptions. This is why the book has also attracted interest among foreigners, being translated into French, German, and Russian. "Refutation of Sects" has many merits, and becoming familiar with them is essential for every thoughtful and reading Armenian. The work also includes the admonitions and sayings of Eznik Vardapet, which have general Christian educational significance for all times.
