Description
Ler Kamsar (Aram Tovmasyan) is one of the greatest Armenian satirists. Despite his large literary legacy, many of Kamsar's works were not published due to the political conditions of the time. However, even the feuilletons published in the press attest to the sharpness of his humor, social sensitivity, and literary mastery. The collection "Animal Congress" includes works by Ler Kamsar that honorably reflect his response to the social, educational, economic, and political changes that took place in Van, then in the Republic of Armenia, Soviet Armenia, and the world. His keenly observed feuilletons not only have artistic value but are also unique historical documents of the period. The works that have reached contemporaries have mainly been preserved in typewritten versions by newspaper employees, which sometimes contain errors due to the transfer from Western Armenian to Eastern Armenian. Despite the absence of some important feuilletons, including "Kamsarian Geography" written in 1910, the collection presents a significant part of the writer's legacy. The work is intended for a wide range of readers, from literature lovers to those interested in history and satire.
