"The Temple of The Golden Pavilion" (1956) is one of the most significant works of the prominent Japanese writer Yukio Mishima (1925-1970), one of the masterpieces of Japanese literature, and is deservedly the most famous Japanese novel in the world. The basis of the book is a true story. On July 2, 1950, the public was shocked by the news of the burning of the famous Golden Pavikilon in Kyoto. The arsonist is Mizoguchi, fascinated by the beauty of the temple, a stutterer from birth, a rejected young temple member, whose feelings are ecstatic, maddened, and painful. Overwhelmed by conflicting feelings and thoughts, he decides to destroy the beautiful structure standing between him and life.
