Hrant Matevosyan (1935–2002) was an Armenian writer and screenwriter born in Ahnidzor in the Lori region. His literary career began with the essay Ahnidzor, which announced a new and uncompromising voice in Armenian prose.
Matevosyan’s stories and novellas portray village communities, families, animals, forests, and labor with psychological depth and compressed, musical language. His work influenced Armenian literature and cinema and earned recognition well beyond Armenia.
