About Krikor Beledian
Born in Beirut in 1945, Krikor Beledian studied at the Nshan Palandjian Armenian Lyceum before moving to Paris in 1967. He studied philosophy at the Sorbonne and later taught Armenian language and literature in France.
Beledian has published dozens of volumes of poetry, fiction, essays, and criticism, largely in Western Armenian. His formally demanding work explores language, exile, memory, and the afterlife of catastrophe, while his scholarship has shaped the study of modern Armenian literature.
