About Ruben Sevak

Ruben Sevak (1885–1915), born Ruben Chilingirian in Silivri, was a Western Armenian poet, prose writer, and physician. He studied medicine in Lausanne and practiced in Switzerland before returning to Constantinople.

His poems and stories combine intimate lyricism with concern for poverty, injustice, and human suffering. Arrested with other Armenian intellectuals, Sevak was murdered during the Armenian Genocide in 1915.
