About Shahan Shahnour
Shahan Shahnour (1903–1974), born Shahnour Kerestejian in Constantinople, was a French-Armenian novelist and poet. He moved to Paris in 1923 and wrote in Armenian as Shahan Shahnour and in French as Armen Lubin.
His landmark novel Retreat Without Song depicts the disorientation and assimilation of young Armenian exiles in France. His later Armenian prose and award-winning French poetry continued to explore displacement, illness, language, and belonging.
