About Gabriel Sundukyan
Gabriel Sundukyan was born in Tiflis and educated at the University of Saint Petersburg. Drawing on the speech and social life of his native city, he brought recognizable contemporary characters and conflicts to the Armenian stage.
His plays, including Pepo, Khatabala, and The Ruined Family, combine humor with criticism of greed, hypocrisy, and inequality. Their vivid dialogue and strong characterization established a lasting foundation for modern Armenian theatre.
