1956. By a special decision of the USSR's highest leadership, a top-secret underground military laboratory is established in Armenia. Two young Armenians are seconded there from two different continents. The first, from Russia, Colonel Avakov, arrives as the laboratory commander. The second, from the USA, CIA agent Adikhanyan, is sent to the Armenian SSR. He must infiltrate the laboratory, where every sound, every movement, every opened door can mark the beginning of irreversibility. Will Colonel Avakov fulfill his mission and create a nuclear weapon? Will agent Adikhanyan, with his life on the line, be able to extract the top-secret information?
