Benik Vardanyan – Lchashen Fortress and Burial Ground
The work is dedicated to the study of materials from Lchashen, one of the prominent Bronze Age monuments of Armenia and the region, kept in the History Museum of Armenia (materials from H. Mnatsakanyan's excavations, 1956-1972). The work is the first part of the catalogue of items discovered during H. Mnatsakanyan's excavations in Lchashen. The research presents data on the Lchashen fortress, burial ground, and wheeled vehicles. The catalogue includes descriptions of items found in the fortress, related to the burial rituals of the Great Kurgans, and belonging to wheeled vehicles. The catalogue addresses the architecture of the fortress, the principles of the burial ground's construction, including burial rituals and methods, cultural features, and issues related to the research of the privileges and socio-demography of the Late Bronze Age society of Lchashen.
