Description
Nora Webster is widowed at the age of 40. She is left alone with four children, without sufficient means. Maurice, the great love of her life, had once saved Nora from a miserable existence. Now Nora is terrified that she will return to the world from which she had escaped with great difficulty. In a small Irish town where personal life is a luxury, Nora tries to keep her grief only inside herself, and her sons silently mourn the death of their father, whose absence they do not yet fully realize. Nora struggles with fear, anger, and an identity crisis. During this time, a new identity emerges within her: she rediscovers her love for singing. A silent transformation begins in Nora's life. This novel is a powerful story about grief, motherhood, societal conventions, and a woman's independence.
