Coronation Of The Armenian Alphabet
The poem “Coronation of the Armenian Alphabet” by Gagik Buniatyan is a unique ode to the Armenian alphabet, each of its letters. A CD is attached to the book in which the poems are read by Sargis Najaryan and Arshaluys Sargsyan accompanied by Armenian folk music.
The Armenian king decides to coronate the most worthy of the Armenian letters, but has difficulty in making a decision. A competition starts and each letter presents itself individually underlining its peculiar place in the Armenian alphabet.
The poem has a beautiful ending: the Armenian King and Queen decide to coronate all the letters, as they all deserve to wear the much desired crown. And like in kind fairy tales they make a feast and enjoy themselves for seven days and seven nights.
