Description
When there is a tragedy in a family's history that no one talks about, that silence is inherited by generations. 1978. Mara visits her mother, Irma, who lives in a nursing home, every day. At the end of her life, Irma begins to remember what she had tried to forget for years: the Soviet repressions of 1941, the Siberian exile, lost love, a fragmented family, and the guilt that always stayed with her. The novel intertwines the fates of three women: grandmother, mother, and daughter. Historical tragedy continues to live inside people even decades later. "The Ice Ocean" is a story of family memory and psychological wounds, where the most important struggle takes place not in the external world, but inside a person.
