As mythologist Professor Joseph Campbell notes, when a hero embarks on a journey to find a lost father, they are allegorically traveling to find their own identity, to forge their own destiny. When they find their father, they are actually finding themselves. “The Secret of the Full Moon” is also an intimate story about family, friendship, love, human relationships, and the subtle and profound realities of life. Along the hero's journey in the novel, one can find scattered pearls of wisdom, which, in the form of italicized wise thoughts, complete the book's message. The author followed the advice of prose writer Vardges Petrosyan, “Have your own fairy tale,” and wrote her own fairy tale.
