Let’s Sing Apricot Stone
"We know how great is the influence of Music on all aspects, and especially teaching a foreign language; eventually songs must be taught to children beginning the lower classes and up. Songs help to activate the oral speech. Song-teaching must be part of the lesson. During my teaching (over sixty years) I’ve taught my pupils (students as well) many songs and enjoyed its effect. I have collected a great quantity of songs, which will be helpful to the English teachers.
The songs for lower classes are simple and easy; at the same time they are games; e.g. “Clap your hands”, “Put your finger on your”… different parts of the body, while repeating the words. The songs are chosen for different occasions; birthday, Christmas, New Year, Mother’s Day, etc. We have included songs from well-known motion pictures as “Sound of Music”, “Love Story”, “Mary Poppins”, “Romeo and Juliet”, “My Fair Lady”. The last ones are patriotic songs as : “Erebuni-Yerevan”, “This Land is Your Land”, “Apricot Stone”. We have included the National Anthem of Armenia, the UK anthem and America."
