Miri
Peter Suryan is a famous American writer of Armenian decent, publicist and professor of the English language and literature. The novel “Miri” is the author's expression of thoughts and feelings of his youth.
?Surian presents the same story from the angles of the three young characters of the novel – Miri, Josh and Lexi, who are students and are at the age of self-affirmation and emotional expression. Miri, who lost her parents, comes to the USA from Greece to stay at her uncle’s. Lexi is her cousin and Josh is an American guy. The theme of love triangle is developed and the reader subconsciously sympathizes with the one from whose point of view the story is being told. Through Miri’s uncle’s family the life of Greek immigrants is presented, at the same time implying the theme and motives of Armenian immigrants in America.
