Sayat-Nova – the Armenian troubadour is a unique phenomenon in world poetry with his trilingual heritage. Aside from his mother tongue Armenian, he wrote works in Georgian, Turkish, to a lesser extent in Persian. The main source of Turkish songs is his autographic songbook (Davtar) in which he proudly states of his Armenian orgin, the main source of his Georgian songs is the collection compiled by his son Ohan. There are 25 Georgian and 49 Turkish songs included in the book translated by M. Hasratyan and H. Bakhchinyan.
