Description
Even while on vacation at the beach, Maigret remains a police officer, missing not even the slightest detail. It seems he should relax, drink wine, sleep long, wander the streets, but... A casual glance, a confused note, a fleeting word... and everything turns upside down. Maigret's holiday is disrupted from the very first day by his wife's illness, which turns out to be not ordinary poisoning, but appendicitis. There is an unusual atmosphere in the local hospital: nuns serve as nurses, and everything seems wonderful; the "dear patients" recover, but unfortunately, not all of them. A nun nurse slips a note into Maigret's pocket, which read: "For God's sake, have mercy, demand to meet the patient in room 15." However, the next day, Hélène Gaudron, the young girl in room 15, dies from a skull fracture. This death was neither the first nor the last, and everything would have remained under a veil of secrecy if it weren't for Maigret's persistence...
